Charlotte Rhys was born in Cape Town in 1999, when friends Janet Rhys and Shaun McDermott set out with a single shared ambition: to create luxury fragranced products that celebrate the natural world while respecting its resources.

What began with one product has grown into South Africa's leading bath, body and home fragrance brand, treasured in elite hotels and homes across the country and beyond.

Today, our team of 70 crafts every formula in-house at our Cape Town facility, sourcing 90% of our ingredients locally and remaining proudly vegan and cruelty-free, accredited by both the Vegan Society and Beauty Without Cruelty.

In early 2026, Charlotte Rhys joined the Maia Group, a new chapter that builds on our founders' original vision while giving us the reach to bring our fragrances to even more homes and hearts.
